As we pray and fast for God to ignite a gospel movement among the Wolof and Peul, we are asking God to bring us into contact with people who are more than friendly and hospitable. These are people God has specially prepared like Andrew, Lydia, Cornelius, and even the Samaritan woman at the well. We are looking for people who are open spiritually, have connections in the community, and share what they are hearing with others.
These “people of peace” are not looking for money, a job, or improved status in life. God has put a spiritual hunger in their heart, and they are seeking the truth. They thirst for true righteousness but likely don’t know where to find it. That is why some must go to them and speak the gospel truth in love in their own language.
“Arise, O God, judge the earth;
for you shall inherit all the nations!” (Psalm 82:8)
“Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, ’Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.’” (Matthew 12:25)
We pray for unity among your church in Senegal. Though your followers in Senegal may have differing strengths, gifts, and expressions of your Spirit, may there be no division. Father, may your people be quick to repent, ready to forgive, and daily seeking your kingdom and your righteousness.
“But the word of God increased and multiplied.” (Acts 12:24)
This verse comes in the context of an evil ruler bent on persecuting the church. No matter what the circumstances may be in Senegal, Lord, we pray the word of God would increase and multiply. Give national Christians and missionaries wisdom and creativity in sharing your word broadly and generously. May Christians in other parts of the world give generously for gospel radio broadcasts and the printing and distribution of your written word.
“If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.” (Hebrews 11:15-16)
We cry out for you to raise up men and women from every region of Senegal who desire a better country, a heavenly one. People who seek to store their treasure there, instead of here on earth. May they seek and store up treasures that last for eternity and that cannot be taken from them in this world.
God, we pray for believers in Senegal to expand their vision of kingdom growth. Help them to find “people of peace” who make it possible to form spiritual families who mature and multiply for generations to come.
