Prayer Fuel

The Peul (or Fulani) are the second largest people group and brought Islam to Senegal over 500 years ago. Historically, they were nomadic herders. Hundreds of families still migrate south during the dry season seeking fodder for their animals. Today, many rural Peul are settled village farmers, while those living in urban settings have become entrepreneurs and professionals.
Much of what is true of the Wolof is also true of the Peul. They strongly embrace their Islamic traditions and are proud and content Muslims. There may be as many as 200 Peul Christians among the four million Peul living in Senegal today.
Yet, Jesus still calls us to make disciples among every people group—even resistant ones. Jesus himself loved and served a proud and resistant people.
PRAISE
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10)
KINGDOM COME
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)
Father, we intercede on behalf of every Senegalese Christian brother and sister undergoing persecution for the sake of righteousness. Bless them with greater intimacy with You and give them perseverance and hope in the midst of their difficulties and suffering.
PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS
“And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.” (Acts 5:41)
May believers in Senegal saturate the country with the truth that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah)—loaded with all the richness of that title from Scripture. May every home have an opportunity to hear this truth.
PRAY THE HALL OF FAITH
“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Lord, please cause multitudes of Senegalese to seek You and experience the greatest reward—Yourself!
PRAYER
Lord, we pray for believers in Senegal who will discover and cherish the ways you make us more like Jesus.
