Muslims are generally very open and public about their faith. Many pray publicly several times a day at set hours. Religious terms like alxamdulilaay (praise God) and inshallah (if God wills) roll often from their lips in conversation with others. They are proud of their allegiance to Allah, Muhammad, and the Quran and content as Muslims. They are not looking for another way to Allah. They are resolute in saying that the way of Islam is their way to peace with Allah and their path to heaven.
Occasionally, though, they reveal cracks in their faith: “We believe Allah is God—but we don’t trust him.”
Why would an avowed Muslim admit his lack of confidence in God? Allah of the Quran has complete freedom to do anything he chooses. He can change his mind and be deceptive and fickle.
Genesis is very important in reaching Muslims. In this foundational book, God establishes covenants and makes significant promises to the patriarchs and their descendants. Though He doesn’t fulfill all of his promises in the way or time Abraham, Jacob, or Joseph hope, all covenants are honored and all promises are kept in his good time. From Adam in Genesis to our future hope visualized in Revelation, Yahweh is a faithful promise keeper.
“All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.” (Psalm 22:27)
(The Parable of the Ten Virgins) “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.” (Matthew 25:1)
Prepare your Bride in Senegal for your return. We pray that every believer in this nation will be pursuing your Kingdom and seeking opportunities to prepare their friends and family for Jesus’ return. Thank you, Father, for your Word that tells us how to prepare for your sure return. May we be faithful and diligent in spreading your good news until the day you bring this present broken and evil age to an end.
“From morning till evening he [Paul] expounded to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets.” (Acts 28:23)
Our God, continue to equip believers throughout Senegal to testify convincingly of your Kingdom using Moses and the Prophets as witnesses to your promises and covenants. Soften hard and resistant hearts throughout this land so they will believe and rest in this glorious message of redemption!
“And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of… David…” (Hebrews 11:32-35a)
Please raise up many like David in Senegal, men and women after God’s own heart. As they chase after God’s heart, may they lead many others into relationship with Him. Father, we all need your help to consistently pursue you with a pure heart that desires to please you in all we do. We are so fickle and easily distracted at times. Help us to refocus our lives on your kingdom and your righteousness. And, we pray this same prayer for your children in Senegal.
Father, give us the courage and boldness we need to be faithful ambassadors for you in a troubled and hurting world. May we never be ashamed of your name or the name of Jesus. May we humbly and joyfully wear the name of Jesus as we live before our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. We ask these same things for Christians living in Senegal. Jesus, they daily need your encouragement and strength to stand strong as your people in the midst of much opposition to and ignorance of your name and word.
