Physically and spiritually, much of Senegal is dry and barren.
Sénégal’s 17 million people enjoy constitutional religious freedom, yet there is significant community and family pressure to remain within Muslim. Although evangelical missionaries have been welcomed in Sénégal since 1960, less than 0.2% of Sénégal’s people are evangelical Christians. Nearly 95% of the people are Muslim and almost 4% are Roman Catholic.
While Dakar is blessed with many congregations, the interior of the country has only a few small churches. The Gospel has barely scratched the surface of these proud and strongly Muslim people.
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! (Psalm 33:8)
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
With faith and hope, we pray for the Gospel of the Kingdom to spread throughout the nation of Senegal. May each ethnic group widely experience your grace and redemption. Please Lord, let it happen in our generation.
“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer…” (Acts 1:14)
Father, we ask that you raise up prayer groups among Senegalese Christians, and we pray the same abiding that happened among the early disciples would likewise result in bold proclamation and many turning to faith in Jesus in Senegal.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation.” (Hebrews 11:1-2)
Lord, we believe you are now and will build your church in Senegal. We pray believers all over the world will steadfastly pray towards that end.
Heavenly Father, we pray for the people of Senegal. In many ways, Senegal is spiritually barren, but we pray with faith, believing you will establish your people there. May you enable gospel seeds to be sown, watered, and nurtured there. We ask you to bring gospel life to this dry land.
Use these resources to help pray specifically each day.
