The Night of Power occurs during the last ten days of the annual Ramadan fast. Some Muslims believe the Night of Power occurs on the 27th day of the fast, while others say the exact night cannot be known. The Quran describes this night as “better than a thousand months,” and Muslims consider it a night more sacred than any other.
It is believed that on this night Muhammad received the first revelations of the Quran from Allah. Allah and his angels are more attentive on the Night of Power and more likely to answer one’s prayer for healing, financial success, forgiveness, or a windfall of material blessing. Faithful Muslims chant Arabic passages from the Quran all night long during those last ten days of the fast and call upon Allah to hear their cries.
“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.” (Revelation 15:4)
KINGDOM COME
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
Father, we pray for the Good News of your Kingdom to be shared in understandable and reproducible ways among all of the unreached people groups in Senegal. May the testimony of your holiness and righteousness go forth in clarity to all who put their hope in their own personal righteousness. May your unblemished holiness blind those who trust in their own religious merits and goodness.
“And when he had said these things, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all he broke it and began to eat.” (Acts 27:35)
Lord, may believers in Senegal exhibit such unshakeable confidence in your Word and your provision, that even in the scariest of circumstances they can still give thanks to you. We pray in the midst of life’s struggles many will be drawn to Christ in Senegal through believers’ firm faith in you. May deep gratitude be an authentic and constant characteristic of your people here.
“And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of… Barak…” (Hebrews 11:32-35a)
Though Barak stumbled with fear, he still led 10,000 people to victory and freedom for the people of God. We pray for godly Senegalese leaders to be used by God, despite their weaknesses, to free others from the bondage of sin. Father, strengthen your people in Senegal and may they turn to you for hope and joy each day of their lives.
Father, during this last week of the Ramadan fast, rain down your Spirit on Muslims all over the world. Give dreams and visions to those who are truly seeking truth and give them diligence and courage to follow that truth wherever it might lead them. Our hope and our prayer, Father, is that they will eventually find peace, joy, and hope in the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Amen!
