Thank you for joining over 6,000 people in praying during this Ramadan!
As you pray today look back over the past month and continue praying what God has put on your heart.
Pray that God will continue working powerfully in this place.
Before you leave check out the end of campaign stats page and consider sharing with us about your prayer time (E.g. testimonies, insights, blessings, etc.)
In Senegal, the month of fasting ends with the national holiday of Korité (known as Eid a-Fitr in most of the Muslim world). The Festival of Fast-breaking is one of the most important religious holidays in Islam. There is great anticipation for and speculation of when that day will be, but the actual day is not announced until the night before when religious leaders see the new moon signaling the end of the lunar month of fasting.
Many Senegalese travel back to their home villages and towns to enjoy large family reunions. Families and neighbors celebrate with a feast and traditionally wear new clothes.
Muslims in Senegal will gather at a local mosque or in open spaces to pray together. This prayer is often followed by a sermon and an imam asking for forgiveness, mercy, and peace.
If they have successfully completed the full month of Ramadan fast, many in Senegal believe and hope Allah repays them for their devotion by forgiving their past sins and blessing them with a new start before him.
“O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven?
You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.
In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you. (2 Chronicles 20:6)
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
Until you return King Jesus, may the passion of your Church, both within Senegal and beyond be the proclamation of the gospel of your Kingdom among all people groups in every nation. In the right time, Father, you will draw this period of history to a close. We pray for many, many Muslims to repent of their efforts of self-righteousness and earning merit before you bring this age of opportunity to an end.
“Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul…” (Acts 4:32a)
We praise you, Lord, for the ways believers in Senegal care for one another. We pray for your Bride in this land to continue to grow in unity and love for one another. May their love and prayer for one another be a light to those around them. Forgive us and them, Father, when we fail to love as we should and lack the unity we should live out as your people.
“And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.” (Hebrews 11:39-40)
Thank You Lord for the beautiful tapestry of faith you are weaving through believers across the centuries you have been drawing people to yourself. We celebrate the diversity of skin tones, languages, worship styles, and cultures that worship you as King and give honor to your holy name. We pray for many Senegalese to be brought into this promise, even on Korité. Amen!
Father, we fervently pray for a disciple making movement in Senegal where hundreds of thousands come to faith in Christ. We continue to implore you, God, to draw Muslims to you who are seeking true peace with you and desiring righteousness. Lead them to Jesus where they will find redemption, a light burden, and a future filled with the hope and joy only you can give.
