Senegal 2023

Still today, many Senegalese have not had the opportunity to attend school and learn to read or write, especially the older generations. So, having the printed Scripture available doesn’t help them hear God’s Word.

Among the most cost-effective ways to reach Senegal’s people are daily radio programs and compelling social media ads in local languages. Millions of villagers do not yet have electricity or a television, but every adult listens to a small battery-powered radio. Christian radio programs in local African languages can reach a large, scattered, and mostly nonliterate audience.

More and more young people have smart phones with access to the internet and are drawn to social media sites like Facebook. Compelling, focused social media ads are being developed in local languages to connect interested Muslims to an appealing website where they can learn more about the Bible and Jesus. When ready, through the site, they can directly communicate with a Christian from their own language and culture.

PRAISE

“And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.” (Zechariah 2:11)

KINGDOM COME

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ’Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’” (Matthew 25:34-36)

Thank You Lord that you have prepared Senegalese to enter your kingdom from the foundation of the world. May every believer in this nation do the good works (feeding the hungry; giving water to the thirsty; etc.) that you prepared in advance for them to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS

“Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.” (Acts 28:31)

Just as the story of Acts ended with Paul living this verse out, we pray believers in Senegal would proclaim the Kingdom of God and teach about the Lord with all boldness and without hindrance until their last breath.

PRAY THE HALL OF FAITH

“Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword.” (Hebrews 11:35b-37)

Give all believers in Senegal perseverance in the face of persecution. Comfort them by the great cloud of witnesses that have gone before them, witnesses like those described in these verses.

PRAYER

God, we know your Word has the power to save and to transform. We are asking you to prepare the hearts and minds of those you are calling to yourself to hear your Word as it goes out across the internet and the airwaves. Prepare believers to respond to those who are seeking the truth of your Way through Jesus.
