Senegal 2023

In Senegal there is constitutional freedom of religion for all citizens.

Citizens are not legally imprisoned or killed for leaving Islam to follow Jesus. Yet, very strong family and social pressure is exerted on nearly everyone who attempts that journey.

Sometimes children or wives are beaten by parents or husbands to force them to recant. Women who attempt to follow Jesus are often divorced by their husbands, sent back to their parental families (who may also reject them), and can have their children taken from them.

Local government officials may choose not to help someone who is evicted from an apartment or fired from a job due to their faith in Jesus. Unless one has the financial resources to hire an attorney and pursue a long legal battle, it is useless to fight for one’s “legal rights.”

PRAISE

“All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.” (Psalm 22:27)

KINGDOM COME

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2)

Pray for Senegalese throughout the country to experience true repentance as they see the holy standard of a Righteous King and their inability to measure up.

PRAY THE BOOK OF ACTS

“And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need… and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:42-47).

As believers in Senegal seek to be living out these verses, would you, Lord, please add daily those who are being saved.

PRAY THE HALL OF FAITH

“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)

As Senegalese people encounter the beauty of your creation in Atlantic coast beaches, delicate wild flowers, and colorful sunsets may they be drawn to the Word through whom You created the world.

PRAYER

God, please help Christians in Senegal be true and faithful disciples of Jesus who cherish your Word and obey you out of true love and devotion.
